It is the only constellation to actually be based on a true person and is considered the “13th Zodiac sign.” Supposedly, Ophiuchus was an ancient healer who was so good at healing and practicing medicine, he could bring people back from the dead. Hades got pissed and complained to Zeus that he was losing his peeps so Zeus struck Ophiuchus down with a lightning bolt. Zeus then put him in the stars to commemorate him because of his awesome healing skills.</p> <p>Ophiuchus is holding a serpent here. Snakes are associated with the medical profession still to this day, like the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.climbingforchrist.org/Portals/2/Medical%20logo4.gif">serpents wrapped around the staff in the medical symbol</a>. Man, I love Greek mythology. Not quite sure why I just avoided writing my paper on it to write this instead since no one actually cares about this.
